In the past months, the Uganda Communication Commission (UCC) banned telecommunication companies from registering cards with refugee IDs / attestation letters due to fraudulent registrations. In collaboration with the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) and the UNHCR, they developed a biometric solution to address the fraud-related challenges and are expected to resume registering and verifying the refugee SIM cards by December.
