Three families one in imvepi and two in Rhino camp refugee settlement had been mourning their lost once who believed to have been killed among the 10 who were traveling to Yei via morobo county. According to one of the relatives of those who were killed, “their beloved ones were murdered while going to Yei and the information came to them late when they have already decomposed for 14 days” The Governor of Yei river state Mr Emmanuel acknowledged that the forces had committed crimes against the civilians “I know some individual soldiers committed crimes here [but] we are sorry for what has happened,” he explained. The official appealed to all the armed opposition forces in the area to ensure they report to designated cantonment sites in Panyume area to allow civilians to start farming and rebuild their livelihoods. “We have a cantonment site here and I want all the opposition forces, whether SPLA-IO [Sudan People Liberation Army-In Opposition] or others to report to the cantonment area to allow civilians to go to the farms and begin cultivation for survival,” he said.
